South Jordan, also referred to as "SoJo", is a city in Utah, part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, and it is the fifth fastest growing city in the United States. It's approximately eighteen miles from Downtown Salt Lake City, and 19 miles from the Salt Lake Regional Airport. The U.S. Census Bureau estimated that as of July 1, 2015, South Jordan's population was at 66,648.
South Jordan, Utah is located in the Salt Lake Valley, with the Wasatch Mountains on the West and the Oquirrh Mountains on the East, which provides a beautiful scenery. In 2010, 2012, and 2014, the city of South Jordan was voted and included in Money Magazine's "Top 20 Places to Live in America". The schools in South Jordan are part of the Jordan School District, one of the fastest growing school districts in the state of Utah. The school district offers two high schools, two middle schools, and seven elementary schools in the city of South Jordan. Schools that are part of the Jordan School District are actively involved in reducing air pollution. They've adopted seventy-five Compressed Natural Gas buses, as well as other methods to reduce the school buses' air pollution.
Local attractions in South Jordan include Golf Resorts, a number of city parks and skate parks, shopping and dining, museums, a Farmers Market, outdoor Summer movies in the parks, hiking trails for walking or cycling, and a Summerfest. In addition, there are a number of community events that residents can be part of, including an Easter Egg and Candy Scramble, a Chalk Art Competition, a Country Fest, a SoJo Marathon, and even a Miss South Jordan Pageant. For anyone who enjoys relaxing days at the lake, the Oquirrh Lake offers canoeing, boating, and fishing. The District is where residents will find theaters, shops, restaurants, major retailers (including Target, Ross, JC Penney, Hobby Lobby, Petco, and Office Max, among others) and the Megaplex, which is South Jordan's theater offering 3D screens, and a D-BOX motion system.
